Golden Disk is a soundscape which evokes memories of the past looking into the future. A future lived on Mars, filled with friendly extraterrestrials living on mysterious other worlds.
When I was young, 2011 was the distant and promising future.
A space age away. That may sound funny now,however,
my partner and I recall memories of wondering,
"Will I be alive then?, Will we live on another planet?, Will distant, interplanetary space travel be a reality?"
...It all seemed like a dream.

The Martian Chronicles, 2001, Planet of the Apes, Silent Running, Star Trek along with other films and TV shows depicted a space age future filled our heads. The 21st century seemed mythic and so very far away.
We were ten and eleven years old when the Golden Disks were launched out into space upon Voyager 1 & 2.
In 2001 Voyager 1 left the Solar system. It is now in empty space. In about 40,000 years, it and Voyager 2 will each come to within about 1.7 light-years of two separate stars: Voyager 1 will have approached star AC+79 3888, located in the constellation Ophiuchus; and Voyager 2 will have approached star Ross 248, located in the constellation of Andromeda.2

Children of the Moon age, we will forever dream of other possible worlds, life forms, and the day the Golden Disks are returned to Earth along with the beings that found them.
